About Penguin Point
The penguin habitat resembles an abandoned shipwreck off the coastline of Peru and features four viewing areas. Visitors can get a look at the zoo’s Humboldt penguins on land, underwater, at water level and the fourth viewing area allows visitors to get above the water and look down into the penguin pool.
The pool in the penguin habitat is 7 feet deep and holds 16,000 gallons of water.
Penguin Chicks Hatched
Since Penguin Point opened in 2003, 17 Humboldt penguin chicks have hatched at the Akron Zoo.
