Can't make it to Total Eclipse of the Zoo? Join us that weekend for Galaxy Fest - an out-of-this-world event that will celebrate the eclipse in a cosmic way.
Wear your best Sci-Fi themed attire and enjoy galactic activities, music by Dj Kenny Kidd, a scavenger hunt, science demonstrations, animal encounters, fun photo oportunities and more!
General admission rates apply for this event.
Activities include:
- Stellar Scavenger Hunt: Be a super space sleuth and find 15 of 20 items hidden around the zoo. Drop off your completed scavenger hunt for an out-of-this world prize! The scavenger hunt form is located by penguin point.
- Observe REAL space artifacts: See things like Space Shuttle spacesuit boots, the Mercury navigational star chart and more located inside Komodo Kingdom! Artifacts provided by The Space Museum and Grissom Center.
- Shine bright like a star at our photo opportunity: Stop by our space-inspired backdrop and take some silly photos using props. Make sure to tag the zoo in your posts on social media!
- Intergalactic crafts: Space control will be impressed with these intergalactic crafts. Stop by our craft table in Komodo Kingdom to make some space-themed crafts to take home.
- Space jams with DJ Kenny Kidd: Stop by carousel plaza and listen to DJ Kenny Kidd spin some space jams. Feel free to bust a move and show off your dance skills.
- Chalk drawing: Stop by our chalk drawing space at Wild Prairie pavilion and show off your skills drawing planets, stars or silly space aliens!
- Blast off with science demonstrations: Stop by Pride of Africa to learn why rockets blast off and how gravity can work with some space-inspired activities. Demonstrations will only happen at specific times so please make sure to plan accordingly.
- Have a close encounter...with an education animal ambassador: Stop by Pride of Africa to meet one of our animal ambassadors.
Adults may come in costume, however, adults are prohibited from covering their faces with masks, mascot heads or facepaint.
