UPDATE: While safety precautions are in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Museums for All program has been adjusted to accommodate these changes.
Beginning on July 9, 2020, anyone who qualifies for the Museums for All discount must call the Akron Zoo at 330-375-2550 to reserve tickets. Tickets must be reserved at least 24 hours in advance.
Tickets will be on hold at the ticket counter. Guests must bring their Ohio EBT card and valid photo ID when they check-in.
The Akron Zoo is committed to providing experiences that connect and engage our guests to wildlife. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to come nose-to-nose with amazing animals and learn about our natural world. We seek to be inclusive to all members of our community, regardless of economic status or other limiting factors. The Akron Zoo is dedicated to providing accessibility to low-income children and families.
Beginning July 1, 2018, the Akron Zoo, along with several other local cultural attractions, will be participating in the Museums for All program. This program is designed to make sure everyone can experience the best museums and cultural attractions, at a low, affordable price.
To broaden access to everyone, the Akron Zoo is offering a special, reduced rate to SNAP Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT)/Ohio Direction cardholders. Cardholders can simply show a valid, SNAP EBT/ Ohio Direction card and valid form of photo ID to receive a special admission price of $3.00 per person for up to 4 people.
How the program works
EBT/ Ohio Direction cardholders can present a valid, non-expired SNAP EBT/ Ohio Direction card that includes a signature and a valid, non-expired form of photo ID at the ticket counter to receive the $3.00 per person admission rate. The admission rate is good for up to 4 people per card.
Getting to the Zoo:
A parking fee of $3.00 is charged per vehicle. The Akron Zoo is also on a Metro Bus route with a bus stop in the zoo’s parking lot. Guests not wanting to drive can take Metro to the zoo. Please contact Metro for route details.
When can SNAP EBT/Ohio Direction cards be used:
Museums for All pricing is available to all SNAP EBT/ Ohio Direction cardholders during regular zoo hours excluding all special event days and evening hours. Regular operating hours are summer hours 10:00 – 5:00 (April – October), winter hours 11:00 – 4:00 (November – March). Call ahead or check the zoo’s website to make sure it isn’t a special event day to help plan your visit. SNAP EBT/ Ohio Direction cards will not be accepted on special event days or during evening hours.
Admission with a valid, non-expired, signed SNAP EBT/ Ohio Direction card and valid photo ID is $3.00 per person for up to 4 people per card. The SNAP EBT/ Ohio Direction card cannot be used for payment. Admission can be paid with cash, debit cards or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover).
SNAP EBT/ Ohio Direction cards can only be used once per day for up to 4 general admission tickets during normal operating hours and tickets will only be valid on date of purchase. This special pricing cannot be combined with other discounts or offers or applied to advance or pre-purchased tickets. Admission is not transferrable, redeemable for cash or exchangeable for any other products or services.
Cardholders are only eligible for the special admission price, all rides, attractions and special exhibits that require a separate fee will be available at full price.
SNAP EBT/Ohio Direction cardholders must:
- Provide a valid, non-expired signed SNAP EBT/ Ohio Direction card.
- Cards must be signed by the cardholder and signatures must match the signature on the valid photo ID presented at time of purchase. Unsigned cards will not be accepted.
- A valid, non-expired photo ID must be presented along with the SNAP EBT/ Ohio Direction card and must include a signature. Guests unable to provide a valid photo ID will not be able to purchase admission at the special rate.
