Agilisaurus means "agile lizard." Its rear limbs were long and slender, allowing it to run quickly through its habitat and evade predators. Its front limbs were shorter, and likely used to hold vegetation or run on all fours. Its long tail helped it balance and move swiftly.

Another unique feature of the Agilisaurus was the enamel on their teeth. The wavy pattern made their teeth resistant to wear. This small herbivore grazed on vegetation, while serving as a food source for small to mid-sized carnivores.
