The Akron Zoo has partnered with the Akron/Summit Convention & Visitors Bureau to offer a zoo-themed mural at the John S. Knight Center.

The installation is located inside the gallery between the John S. Knight Center and the Skywalk. The wall is titled “Wild Side of Akron” and celebrates the diversity of the animals and guests at the Akron Zoo.

The mural features several different animals from the Akron Zoo, along with video of zoo animals and a collection of visitors welcoming people to the zoo through the doors of the Welcome Center.

“We are excited to be able to share the ‘wild side of Akron’ at the John S. Knight Center,” said Doug Piekarz, president & CEO at the Akron Zoo. “This mural serves as a representation of not only the wildlife we care so deeply about at the Akron Zoo, but also the significant diversity of the more than 400,000 annual guests and learners we serve. We are grateful to the Akron/Summit Convention & Visitors Bureau for their partnership.”

“The Akron Zoo has been an invaluable partner of ours over the years,” said Gregg Mervis, president & CEO of the Akron/Summit Convention & Visitors Bureau. “By showcasing this new display in our building, we are increasing awareness and visibility for this nationally-recognized gem right in our own backyard. We are proud to highlight our partnership and commitment to the hospitality and tourism industry in our area."
