About White-faced Sakis
White-faced sakis are small monkeys with bushy tails they use to help them balance. Both males and females weigh around 3.5 pounds, but they exhibit sexual dimorphism, making it easy to tell them apart. Males have a black coat with white fur around the face. Females have a brownish-grey coat with two vertical lines from their eyes to their nose. Females also have reddish-brown fur on their chest and abdomen. Both male and female infants are similar in appearance, before beginning to diverge after a few months. They will reach sexual maturity by the age of 4.
Female white-faced sakis can give birth to one infant per year. After giving birth, they will carry the infant for the first month. Afterwards, the infant will ride on its mother's back until they reach about 6 months of age. Male white-faced sakis do not provide infant care, but they will protect the mother and infant during the first month of life.
