Males are larger than females with the males ranging between 120-220 lbs. and the females 64-140 lbs. with an average height at the shoulder of 2 to 3 feet. Adult males will measure 6 to 8 feet from nose to tail tip and females 5 to 7 feet.
Their claws can be retracted like most cats. Its coat is gray - brown to black, although cubs are initially spotted with blue eyes. The most recognizable feature of the mountain lion is its long and heavy tail, which measures almost two-thirds the length of its head and body.
Mountain lions have extraordinary vision. They have round or oval pupils, which allows them to open as wide as possible at night, but close almost completely in bright light, which protects light-sensitive cells.

The mountain lions are currently acclimating to their new home behind the scenes and will make their public debut in the coming months. They will reside in the former jaguar habitat in Legends of the Wild.
