Silver fulu are a small fish with slender body. Both males and females are silver in color with faint stripes on their flank. These fish are mouth brooders, meaning the eggs are held and hatch in the mouth of the female (usually).

Silver Fulu at the Akron Zoo

The Akron Zoo is currently the only zoo among AZA institutions that houses silver fulus. The Akron Zoo participates in the silver fulu Species Survival Plan (SSP) with the hopes that one day, we can reintroduce them to their native habitat.

Our silver fulus are located inside the reception office in the Welcome Center.
