The Akron Zoo is offering a 12 month Sustainability Internship. This internship will provide an in-depth educational and learning experience to students looking to pursue a career in conservation, sustainability, zoos, non-profit organizations and environmental careers. The intern will report to the Akron Zoo’s Director of Capital Projects and Sustainability. The primary focus of the position will to learn and participate in the zoo’s Sustainability Master Plan. The Akron Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums and is a demonstrated leader in sustainable operations. This internship is unpaid.
Interested students must be able to participate in at least 20 hours per week, for at least 12 months. Special scheduling consideration is given to ensure your academic commitments are met. Participation can be completed on site, and at home depending upon the assignment. Students must be actively enrolled in college. Preference is given to Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate students in a related major. Internships are unpaid and housing, transportation and background check fees are the responsibility of the intern.
One position available from June 2017 to May 2018.
Must be available in early June for training.
