Communication Internships


The Akron Zoo is seeking a highly motivated individual looking for experience in the Communications field. 

Candidates should possess skills in written and oral communications, be well organized and have the ability to relate to a wide variety of individuals, from volunteers to professionals. Experience with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel a must. Basic design experience preferred. Interns must be available up to 20 hours per week, including some weekend days and/or evenings to assist with events. Good public speaking skills and a sense of humor are a must for all internships.

Applicants must be actively enrolled in college, or a recent college graduate. Preference is given to those studying a major relating to the internship.

The internship is unpaid, however a stipend will be awarded to successful interns at the conclusion of their internship. Housing, transportation and background check fees are the responsibility of the intern. 

2020 Internship Dates:

  • Spring: Mid-January to early-May
  • Summer: Mid-May to mid-August
  • Fall: Mid-August to early-December

  • Spring: Nov. 13, 2020
