The Akron Zoo is seeking highly motivated individuals looking for experience in the Communications field. There are two positions available each semester, one with a marketing focus and another with a fundraising focus.
Candidates should possess skills in written and oral communications, be well organized and have the ability to relate to a wide variety of individuals, from volunteers to professionals. Experience with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel a must. Basic design experience preferred. Interns must be available up to 20 hours per week, including some weekend days and/or evenings to assist with events. Good public speaking skills and a sense of humor are a must for all internships.
Applicants must be actively enrolled in college, or a recent college graduate. Preference is given to those studying a major relating to the internship. Internships are unpaid and housing, transportation and background check fees are the responsibility of the intern.
2019-2020 Internship Dates:
- Spring: Mid-January to early-May
- Summer: Mid-May to mid-August
- Fall: Mid-August to early-December
