ZOOMOBILE PROGRAMS FOR SCHOOLS

Did you know the Akron Zoo can come to you? The Akron ZooMobile can bring age-specific programs right to your school or classroom.

ZooMobile programs include:

  • Live animal ambassadors
  • Up-to-date lesson plans that include Academic Content Standards for Life Sciences for the State of Ohio

Classroom Programs

Each 45-minute program includes three animal ambassadors and hands-on activities for one classroom (30 students or less) setting.

Preschool* - 3-5 year old

Bust A Move - Discover the various ways animals move in the wild, and see how much you can move like them. NEW FOR 2016!
All Creatures Great & Small - Animals come in different shapes and sizes. How do they compare with you?

In Living Color - The world is colored with animals. Discover the not-so-black and white world of animal colors.

Living Things – Explore the differences between living things and non-living things and meet a few live animals.
*Call for programs for children under 3.

 

Kindergarten – Grade 3

Fur, Feathers & Scales – Explore what makes birds, mammals and reptiles different.

Backyard Wildlife – Discover animals that live in Ohio.  Learn about their lives in the wild and how people and animals can co-exist.

Where in the World – Explore the different places animals call home, from the desert to the rainforest.

Multi-age Programs

Superheroes! (grades 4-8) Superheroes have lots of special powers, but how many of those powers are also found in the animal kingdom? NEW FOR 2016!

What’s for Dinner? (grades 4-6) – Learn about the food web and how all animals are connected.

Rainforest (grades 4-6) - Explore the most diverse habitats and one of the most at risk. Discover why the rainforest is at risk and learn its impact in Ohio.

Endangered Species (grades 5-6) – Why do some animals thrive while others struggle for survival? Meet some animals from the zoo and explore this topic.

Wildlife Trade (grades 6 - high school) – Learn how human decisions affect the economics and cultures of other civilizations. 

Adapt and Survive (grades 5-8) – Discover the traits and behaviors that help animals survive and thrive in the wild.

Training 101 (grades 6-high school) - Explore the psychology behind training natural behaviors.

Custom Program (any age) - Our Education Team will work with you to create a custom program to fit your needs.

 

Note: All programs are aligned with Ohio Academic content standards. We can adapt programs to fit your curriculum. Ask about this option when you call to reserve your program. We look forward to working with you!

 

Classroom ZooMobile Program Fees

Summit County

1-30 students (students permitted to touch animals) -$95. Consecutive programs - $75.

31-100 students (students not permitted to touch animals) - $175. Consecutive programs - $165.


Outside Summit County

1-30 students (students permitted to touch animals) -$105. Consecutive programs - $85.

31-100 students (students not permitted to touch animals) - $195. Consecutive programs - $185.

 

As of May 1st, 2015, programs must occur within 15 minutes of each other to qualify for the consecutive rate.

 

Zoolympics! Assembly Program

 

This action packed show brings the spirit of the Olympics competition into your school.  Audience members will have the opportunity to test their physical prowess against the amazing adaptations of reptiles, mammals and birds.  This special presentation has animal athletes from around the world combined with music and plenty of student participation.

 

Assembly shows can be performed for up to 300 people.

 

Fee for either assembly program- $400

Our after-school enrichment programs include 4 to 8 different sessions with fun activities and several animal ambassadors.
