Your charitable gift to the Akron Zoo will provide care for animals at the zoo, support educational programs and wildlife conservation projects.
As conservators of wildlife, our purpose is to provide an enlightening and affordable animal experience that is fun for the families of our community. Active promotion and continually improving service and facilities will ensure our goals of financial security and international involvement in wildlife conservation efforts.
Due to the financial resources contributed by zoo supporters the zoo is able to achieve these goals and standards on a daily basis.
 You can make a general donation which will go into the zoo’s Foundation to support the zoo and its critters for years to come, or specifically make a memorial donation to honor the loss of a loved one or commemorate a particular moment. You could also specifically designate your gift to go to the Akron Zoo’s Conservation Education Fund, supporting field projects and educational messaging.
Other ways to show your support and passion for wildlife at the Akron Zoo that are unique are: Care for a Critter program, purchase a tile, buy a zoo bench, planned gift, annual fund, or sponsor an animal exhibit.
We also offer corporate sponsors amazing opportunities with wild benefits for our various special events and education programs.
Memorial
Honor your loved one by making a donation on their behalf to the zoo. You and your beloved’s name will be recognized in an issue of ZooTales, the zoo’s quarterly newsletter.
Care for a Critter
Wish you could help take care of one of the animals at the zoo? Well now you can! Adopt an animal in your name, in honor of a loved one, for a school group, a business or a club that you’re a member of and be a proud sponsor of an animal of your choice for an entire year. This is a unique gift that gives year round. Sponsors receive a picture of their sponsored animal, an animal fact sheet, certificate of sponsorship, and their name listed in Zootales, the zoo’s quarterly newsletter
Tile Wall
Leave your family name or special message for generations to see in the new environmentally friendly education center. The tile wall is a bamboo mural with a variety of glass tiles available for engraving. Tiles are limited supply so order soon and help the Akron Zoo complete their new bamboo mural in this state-of-the-art Education Center with your very own tile.
Behind-the-Scenes Tour
You and up to five guests can enjoy a private behind-the-scenes tour of one or all of the facilities that house animals at the Akron Zoo. This guided tour will take you and your guests on a wild journey and offer a peek at where our wild animal keepers perform their daily duties of cleaning, preparing diets to feed, and care for the animals. Penguin Point, Meso-America, and Madagascar in Legends of the Wild, and Cat and Bear Building in Tiger Valley are the facilities available to tour. Come prepared to ask the keepers and your tour guide questions during this amazing journey. You can tour all six facilities for a gift of $500 or choose three facilities for $350 or one facility for $200. Zoo Benches
Benches are a great way to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery during your visit to the Akron Zoo. For a $1,250 donation, you can commemorate a special event or provide a lasting memorial on one of our benches. Your special message will be engraved on a 3’ x 6’ plaque on the bench and placed on the upper portion of the bench. Sponsor an Exhibit
This is the perfect contribution for a corporation to show their support of the Akron Zoo. Your company name will be placed on an exhibit for one year. To inquire more about sponsoring an exhibit call the Development Department at 330-375-2550, ext. 7220.

You can leave a legacy at the Akron Zoo by remembering us in your will. Making plans now for future gifts will ensure that your wishes are met.
Keeper for a Day
Follow an Akron Zoo Keeper during their daily routine. Watch and learn all the aspects of being a wild animal keeper. You can help make diets for the animals, clean their exhibits or just follow the keeper and ask questions you’ve always wondered about. This is a once in a lifetime journey you’ll remember forever! Zoo Veterinarian for a Day
You can watch one of the zoo’s veterinarians give some of the animals their check-ups right in the same room. This is a unique opportunity to learn about the medical care that the animals receive.
