Internships in Development
The Development and Special Events Intern assists the Development Department in the planning and implementation of fundraising special events, donor events, research, publications, writing and various other tasks to support the fundraising and communications goals and objectives of the Akron Zoo.
The intern should possess skills in written and oral communications, be well organized and have the ability to relate to a wide variety of individuals, from volunteers to professionals. Experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel a must. Basic design experience preferred. The intern must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours a week. Some evening and weekend hours may be requested. Summer interns are required to work Summer Safari and Spring interns are required to work Snow Bowl.
Good public speaking skills and a sense of humor are a must for all internships. Internships are unpaid and housing, transportation and background check fees are the responsibility of the intern.
One position is available during each semester.
2016 Internship Dates:
- Spring: Mid-January to early-May
- Summer: Mid-May to mid-August
- Fall: Mid-August to early-December
